At Dunwoody Dental Health, we provide compassionate care for patients in need of root canal treatment in Dunwoody. Root canals are essential procedures that address tooth infections and help preserve your natural smile. Our practice combines advanced technology with a patient-centered approach, ensuring every treatment is both effective and comfortable.

Why Your Tooth Infection Needs a Root Canal

Root Canals
Tooth infections arise when the pulp of the tooth becomes inflamed or infected, usually due to deep decay, dental injuries, or previous procedures. Approximately 13% of adults received at least one endodontic procedure over a 48-month period, with conventional root canal therapy comprising 94% of these services. Symptoms like intense tooth pain, swelling, or the presence of a dental abscess indicate that a root canal may be necessary. This procedure involves removing the affected pulp, cleaning the tooth canals, and sealing them to prevent further infection. Failure to treat an infected tooth can lead to more severe complications and even tooth loss.

How Root Canal Therapy Preserves Your Smile

Root Canals
Root canal therapy is crucial for maintaining your smile and oral health. By saving a tooth that is otherwise at risk, you avoid the need for more invasive procedures like extractions. A study found that 81% of teeth were retained after root canal treatment, indicating a high success rate for endodontic procedures. With proper post-treatment care, including good oral hygiene and regular dental visits, a tooth treated with root canal therapy can continue to function well for many years. Our Dunwoody practice focuses on providing a seamless experience, allowing you to maintain your natural smile.

What to Expect During Your Root Canal Procedure

Root Canals
During your visit to Dunwoody Dental Health, you can expect a thorough examination followed by the root canal procedure itself. We start by numbing the area around the affected tooth to ensure your comfort. Next, we remove the infected pulp through a small opening, clean the canals, and fill them with a specialized material. Finally, a temporary or permanent restoration is placed to restore the tooth’s function. Our team focuses on delivering high-quality care and making your experience as smooth and comfortable as possible.

Essential Post-Procedure Care for Your Tooth

Root Canals

After undergoing root canal therapy, it’s vital to follow some essential post-procedure care guidelines to ensure properΒ healing:

  • Keep the treated area clean by practicing good oral hygiene.
  • Attend follow-up appointments at our Dunwoody practice to monitor healing.
  • Avoid chewing on the treated side until restored with a permanent dental crown.
  • Contact us if you experience persistent pain or swelling.

By adhering to these steps, patients can maximize the benefits of their root canal treatment and maintain long-term dentalΒ health.

When to Schedule Follow-Up Visits After Treatment

Follow-up visits are critical to ensure your tooth heals appropriately after a root canal. We recommend scheduling your first visit within a week after the procedure, especially if you had a temporary filling. Regular check-ups will allow us to assess the healing process and discuss the placement of a permanent crown to safeguard your tooth. Our practice emphasizes transparency, so we will keep you informed about the care required to maintain your oral health.

Dr. Zainab was AMAZING! Very informative and helped me better understand my oral health. Everling took really good care of me during my x-rays and made sure I was comfortable. During check-in/check-out Sieeda was very patient with me scheduling my next follow up visits. These ladies were truly outstanding and made my experience great.

Dr zainab baqri was amazing and explained everything she was doing as she did it and made me feel so comfortable in her hands. Sharon, her tech, explained the process of X-rays so I felt comfortable. Thank you both for your expertise and kindness!! PS- my teeth feel great…so clean!

This office, doctors and team are amazing. I can definitely tell it’s under new ownership (been coming here for a while) because of all of changes - they are in network with my insurance (and most PPOs they said), technology upgrades everywhere and they quoted everything accurately upfront. The previous ownership didn’t quote correctly and later found out they were out of network. If you go to an out of network place near here, give this place a try. They offer better service with in network prices. For past and future patients (read past reviews), ignore them and come back. It doesn’t represent the new changes. Everyone was amazing! Thanks Dunwoody Dental Health - will be a long time customer!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I had an amazing experience at Dunwoody Dental Health! From the moment I walked in, the staff was welcoming, professional, and genuinely caring. The office is modern, spotless, and very comfortable, which immediately put me at ease. The dental team took the time to explain everything clearly and made sure I was comfortable throughout my visit. The hygienist was gentle yet thorough, and the dentist was knowledgeable, attentive, and honest about treatment options. I never felt rushed or pressured. This is easily the best dental experience I’ve had, and I highly recommend Dunwoody Dental Health to anyone looking for top-quality care with a personal touch.

I used to go to Pure Health Dental, but now they have new ownership, and I can confidently say I am happy about that change. The doctor was very professional and did not make me feel like he wanted me to pay for unnecessary services. He took care of the crown I got a couple of years ago that the previous doctor had pretty much messed up. I have dental anxiety, but the atmosphere in this office made me feel relaxed, from the front office team to the doctor. I am definitely letting my kids and husband come to this office for their dental care. Exceptional work, Dunwoody Dental Health. You really know how to take good care of your patients. See you soon :)
